Memories for Memorial Day Weekend

This long Memorial weekend was great! Mostly because I got my new iPhone.  I was able to capture many moments and am so excited about it!  Some people that don't have a 'smart phone' think this little technology device is just that and some even think it's a waste of money.  Not me!  This little device will allow me to:
  • make my blog better by providing me with quick access to pics and videos
  • play games when I'm bored, which will ultimately keep my mind fresh
  • it will also allow me to keep up with what's going on because of the convenient calendar
  • to wake up on time because of the soothing alarm clock
Finally, it really reminds me what is important.  Not that I need to be reminded but it sure is nice to be able to look back at pictures like the ones below and be reminded of how lucky I am!  Friday after getting our new phones, I went with my parents and Nick to Culver's.  My favorites (ellie&jack) also joined us!

Then Nick and I went up north to his parent's cabin, just for one night but two full days.  We fished, went to the Flea Market, relaxed and I read a dozen magazines - I had a lot of PEOPLE news to catch up on :)  Oh and Nick caught a huge bass and his Dad caught a northern that matched his yellow shirt!

Memorial day started off with a pretty 'blah' parade in Merton, followed by ice cream and of course playing outside.  It was hot for baby and me but overall pretty perfect.

We wrapped up the weekend at home in the 69 degrees condo.  Nick was freezing but covered up with blankets.  I was content laying on the couch keeping cool and waiting for something exciting to happen.  All of a sudden there was a knock at the door and it was Ellie and gang! This made me very happy, I love visitors especially ones that I can kiss :)  Isn't she the cutest?!!?

3 H's: hormones, hungry, and HAPPY

In a couple of weeks I'll be entering the 3rd trimester of my pregnancy.  I know right now I think the time has gone fast but towards the end of summer I'm sure I'll be thinking differently.  I'm lucky in that I got to 'skip' my first trimester since I was clueless about even being pregnant.  This 2nd trimester has been great.  My family has been so supportive.  Heidi makes me feel better when she tells me that the things like swollen ankles and additional weight is just part of it.  Having watch her go through it twice inspires me to be strong like her and to 'suck it up'.  Nick makes me feel loved by making most of my meals including milkshakes and rubbing my feet, back, and any body part that I ask him to.  Then there is my Mom.  She is a typical Mom, always looking out for my best interest.  If only I can be as smart as she is when I finally become a Mom.  So this funny thing on Pinterest reminded me of dinner with Heidi and my Mom last night.  I know they understand but I'm going to try harder to have some control over these hormones.  I am very Happy and mostly always hungry :)

Rutabaga!

I never even knew what a Rutabaga was until babycenter.com told me that the Baby is this size.  I am 25 weeks tomorrow and feeling pretty good!  I had a endrocrine appointment last week and she put me on a low dosage of thyroid medication.  We'll monitor this closely but isn't anything too serious.  If anything it might help reduce fatigue and my swollen ankles.  So the little baby is 1 1/2 pounds and is growing more hair!  This is interesting because lately I have been feeling the stretching of my belly along with the increased hair growth all over my body.  Oh well, it's just like peach fuzz :)  I'm really starting to get excited about meeting our little Rutabaga!

HAPPY 1-Month Anniversary!

From the moment I met Nick it's been the best adventure I've ever been on.  Here I am with my favorite person in my favorite place!  Nick and I in Colorado at Hanging Lake, 2011.  Can't wait to have more memories that I won't ever forget.  Life is so great being married to your best friend, I recommend it to everyone!  Happy 1-month anniversary best friend!

Test-run

The weekend was wonderful, especially after the week I had.  Twice a year, my work hosts a 3-day conference.  Typically the days fly by but this time was different.  With baby in my belly, sitting in meetings all day and entertaining clients at night isn't fun.  I found out the hard way with swollen ankles & feet.  Luckily my husband rubbed my dawgs when I got home and listened to me whine - I promise I only whined a little :) I was able to work from home Friday and put my feet up!  I appreciate that they're flexible in this way.  It helped kick off the wonderful, yet educational weekend.

Saturday we had a 'test-run' with Keira.  My new brother and sister-in-law dropped their little one off by us while they went to the Brewer game.  Coincidentally Heidi and her Nick were also at the game too.  With our air conditioner broken and a little clueless about how to entertain Keira we headed over by my Mom who was watching Ellie and Jack.  Ellie and Jack played so well with Keira.  Ellie kept giving Keira her toy's and Jack his toy's.  So cute.  Meeko even joined in.  Needless to say the kids entertained us for a while.

It wasn't too long when Keira gave us a little dose of what is to be coming this fall.  I was actually waiting for this, I feel that it will help us be more prepared.  She was a little fussy and we tried everything.  She didn't need to be changed.  She wouldn't take a bottle.  She didn't want any more food.  She didn't want to be held.  She wouldn't go to sleep.  Nick and I felt helpless but didn't give up.  Finally, Nick sat with her in front of the T.V. and she dozed off watching the Brewer's!  I think it took a lot out of us but more Nick.  Here is Keira sleeping and Nick not moving at all so he wouldn't wake her.  The second pic is little Keira trying to wake up Uncle Nick!  I love all my nieces and nephews and have a feeling this is going to be what our Saturday nights will be like for the next 18 years :)

Mother's Day

The weekend flew by with all the activities surrounding Mother's Day.  Saturday we spent the day in Illinois going shopping.  We went to Woodfield mall, Ikea, and of course Mitsuwa.  We ended the night at Sushi Kushi Toyo for my Mom's dinner celebration.  It was so yummy!  I was a little nervous about Sunday because I'm not quite a Mom yet.  Nick however did all the right things to settle my nerves.  He got me a card with giraffes on it (my favorite animal these days), a bouquet of pink roses (unopened - they began to open when we got home), and made dinner for me and my family (lasagna, garlic bread, salad)!  We then all went to Bubba's for free sundaes!  I think tonight we'll have that special dessert he was planning.  He ended the night with serving me sparkling apple cider and giving my little Lucy a bath.  He makes me feel so special.  Me, Lucy and baby are so lucky to have Nick.  I can't wait until next Mother's Day!

Baby Registry & Dancing

Strollers, cribs, car seats, and baby carriers are all the things you probably register for when creating your baby registry.  Heidi and I registered last week and completed it in under 2 hours!  I honestly had no idea how long it would take just knew I had to get it done.  I'm super lucky to have Heidi help me out with all these things.  I'm also lucky to have her calm me down when my ankles are swollen or when we looked at breast pumps.  This baby tickles me everyday (literally) and I love it...but all the 'mommy' and 'pregnancy' stuff that happens can be so scary, especially when your hormones are completely messed up.  Babycenter say's this 23rd week to "Turn on the radio and sway to the music, baby can feel you dance".  Here I am at my wedding a few weeks ago doing just that - with two of my favorite people in the world, they make me not feel so scared by 'dancing' with me...
