Baby Shower #1

Yesterday we had our first shower that my sister Heidi hosted.  Of course she did an 'over-the-top' job at hosting.  Her creative-ness when it comes to the decorations and food is crazy good!  Check out all the details on her blog.  We got a lot of nice things such as the rug, video monitor, and high chair.  We got a lot of the little, but necessary things like clothes, baby toys, grooming kit, and diapers!  After everyone left Ellie and I took a little nap.  When Nick and I got home, we (mostly Nick) brought all the gifts in and put them in the baby's room.  I will put them away this week and as soon as the dresser is complete.  Even though everyone helped so much and I didn't have to do a lot, me and Baby took another nap when we got home :)  We really like taking naps these days...

Father's Day

This Father's Day was extra special because it's Nick's first!  Although Baby isn't here to hold, Nick does an unbelievable job at taking care of the baby.  He sings, talks, and rubs the baby whenever he gets a chance.  He also makes sure the baby always has good food to eat!  One of the reasons I married Nick is because I knew he would be a good Dad and he is already showing us how good he is.  For Father's day this year we went to breakfast with my parents at Sawmill and then spent the afternoon at Nick's Grandpa's who is a great-grandpa 6 times!  We will be giving him lucky # 7 great-grandchild.

Father's Day has always been one of my favorites because the person who I can always count on, who I respect, and who has given me the best life I could ask for is my Dad.  You wouldn't know it but he is such a good dancer!  Here we are at my wedding, I'm so grateful for him.

Baby Brain

So lately I have had the case of major 'Baby Brain'.  I know they say this is only a myth but I'm going with it's real, at least in my world it feels real.  It's crazy in a good way how a woman's body prepares for a baby.  And since I look for meaning or reason in everything this is the short list I have come up with on what all the preparation is for:

  • Frequent bathroom trips = changing baby's diaper
  • Waking up at random times = being on alert for when baby wakes up
  • Insane hunger moments = feeding baby now!
  • Lack of sleep = lack of sleep
  • Instant nap episodes = sleeping when baby sleeps
and finally the 'Baby Brain' is because my heart is beating so strong for this baby that my brain just doesn't work as well anymore.  The thing I realized is I'm OK with all of this.  I would do anything for this little baby that I haven't even met yet!  And I don't even know if it's a girl or boy.  My movie star niece thinks it's going to be a girl.  She's probably right.  She's so smart.  Smarter than her baby brain auntie we-we :)

Being a Coraggio

It's been about a month and a half being Mrs. Coraggio.  In my heart I will always be a Keesling however part of my heart is now a Coraggio.  I didn't think it was possible for my heart to become more full of love... but it is!  I love Nick and his family more and more everyday.  At the wedding we went to this last weekend, his brother Joe told me that I got the best brother.  I immediately agreed with him but after wondering what that really meant I think I actually got the best one for me.  Everyone is unique and to find someone that fits you and feels right is what is important.  To find someone that you love more everyday feels unbelievable but is believable.  This last weekend I really became to appreciate Nick's brothers and realized how proud I am to be Mrs. Coraggio.  Although we couldn't stay all night because of Baby, we had a really good time!  I laughed at these three Coraggio men in blue the whole night.  Joe was kinda right, I think we all got the best brother.  Nick, thank you for making me Mrs. Coraggio!

Cauliflower

This little baby in my tummy is growing everyday, I feel it!  Tickling, kicking, and swimming around.  Today it is 27 weeks, the last week of the 2nd trimester.  This means 13 weeks to go!  The baby is like 'a head of cauliflower' and weighs 2 pounds!  Not to compare my baby to a dog but Lucy was smaller than this when I brought her home.  Crazy to think that I have a little cauliflower in my tummy.  I will now see my Dr. every two weeks.  She has to keep an eye on my short cervix which puts me at high risk for pre-term labor.  This was disappointing but not a surprise as Heidi went through the same thing.  It's good to know so now we can prevent this little cauliflower from coming out too early!  Another thing that is changing is the baby's room.  We (mostly Nick) worked on the cornice last night.  We didn't put the fabric on yet but have the structure of the cornice.  Here is Nick holding it up by the window so I can get a visual.  He does such great work!

Baby's Rug

I was going back and forth on which colors to do and was going to buy the rug I registered for at Target.  This rug is my inspiration for color and it's just so cute!

As I tried to find a good reason to buy the rug, I realized that it was marked "Already Purchased"!  Someone already bought it for us!  So first thing Saturday a.m. Heidi and I went in search for fabric (for the windows) and for anything else cute I could find.  I ended up finding the perfect fabric along with a cool mirror and little owl lamp.  I'm so excited to get started on the window cornice and begin our little baby's room.

My Mom bought us the baby's crib and dropped it off yesterday.  So while I went bumming with my Mom, Heidi, Ellie&Jack - Nick put the crib together.  Although it took him a little longer than he thought, these things always take longer than we think.  He did a great job!  This morning before I left for work, I looked into the baby's room and imagined that soon there will be a baby in there.  I am so excited!
