Every year we get that much older and wiser. My Mom is a great example of this being the perfect Mom, Wife, Ba-ba, and person I know!
Happy Birthday Mom!
Yesterday we had our first shower that my sister Heidi hosted. Of course she did an 'over-the-top' job at hosting. Her creative-ness when it comes to the decorations and food is crazy good! Check out all the details on her blog. We got a lot of nice things such as the rug, video monitor, and high chair. We got a lot of the little, but necessary things like clothes, baby toys, grooming kit, and diapers! After everyone left Ellie and I took a little nap. When Nick and I got home, we (mostly Nick) brought all the gifts in and put them in the baby's room. I will put them away this week and as soon as the dresser is complete. Even though everyone helped so much and I didn't have to do a lot, me and Baby took another nap when we got home :) We really like taking naps these days...
This little baby in my tummy is growing everyday, I feel it! Tickling, kicking, and swimming around. Today it is 27 weeks, the last week of the 2nd trimester. This means 13 weeks to go! The baby is like 'a head of cauliflower' and weighs 2 pounds! Not to compare my baby to a dog but Lucy was smaller than this when I brought her home. Crazy to think that I have a little cauliflower in my tummy. I will now see my Dr. every two weeks. She has to keep an eye on my short cervix which puts me at high risk for pre-term labor. This was disappointing but not a surprise as Heidi went through the same thing. It's good to know so now we can prevent this little cauliflower from coming out too early! Another thing that is changing is the baby's room. We (mostly Nick) worked on the cornice last night. We didn't put the fabric on yet but have the structure of the cornice. Here is Nick holding it up by the window so I can get a visual. He does such great work!
My Mom bought us the baby's crib and dropped it off yesterday. So while I went bumming with my Mom, Heidi, Ellie&Jack - Nick put the crib together. Although it took him a little longer than he thought, these things always take longer than we think. He did a great job! This morning before I left for work, I looked into the baby's room and imagined that soon there will be a baby in there. I am so excited!
